Our Stay Out Late Rally was a great success!
Thanks so much to our co-sponsor Sandy Cowan who really got the word out. Many people attended but special thanks to Council Person Peggy Henson, LFUCG Commission for Citizens with Disabilities Chair- Morry LaTour, John Glisson of Independence Place and our bicycle friend from PUSH America. (more info and links to these organizations below)
One of the inspirations for our rally was- and is- the British punk band Heavy Load. They are a tear it up band- and their members include folks considered to have disabilities. Their anthem "Stay Up Late" is one great song and in fact has helped create an international movement about the very real need for people to socialize and---Stay Up Late! We are pleased that they have included info about our rally on their website. http://stayuplate.org/
Hey Jude! Jude and Latitude artist Beverly Baker hit the bricks to get the word out. By the way Beverly recently had a successful exhibit in Paris, France and look for lots of her work at the Latitude exhibit at the Ann Tower Gallery in September.
Council Person Peggy Henson and Latitude's Crystal Bader with PUSH bicyclists in background. PS PUSH is amazing- they are biking all the way across the US this summer to learn about and to bring awareness to- disability issues. We were happy to have them on board!Pat Gerhard (thanks for the prizes for best posters) of Third Street Stuff, Morry La Tour and John Glisson
